Vice President of External Affairs and Education
Karen has been a vital member of the Infinite Legacy team since 1993. She started as a clinical coordinator and has since served in many roles in the organization. In her current position as Vice President of External Affairs and Education, Karen focuses on maintaining and enhancing relationships with a broad range of external partners, to include the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the Maryland legislature. She also provides oversight to all aspects of the organization’s training and ongoing education strategies. Prior to joining Infinite Legacy, Karen worked as an Intensive Care Unit nurse on the Neurotrauma Critical Care unit in the Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Karen obtained her degree in nursing from the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Towson, MD. She graduated from Stevenson University in Baltimore in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Nursing and completed her master's degree in Nursing Education at Stevenson in 2017.
Karen is a founding member and has previously served as chair of Infinite Legacy's Advisory Board. She also led the creation of Infinite Legacy's Education and Simulation Committees and is the current chair of the Infinite Legacy Ethics Committee. She is a member of the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) and the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) where she previously served as chair of the Procurement Director's Council and currently sits on their Education and Training Council.
