Mary Winstead

Waiting List Candidate

I am Mary Winstead. I retired from federal government service several years ago and I currently live in Odenton, MD. I am a recent widow with no children of my own, but I have many delightful nieces and nephews that are the surrogate children in my life. I love helping others, volunteering, serving at my church, traveling to different countries, working out at the gym, spending time with my large extended family and baking delicious desserts for family and friends.

In the late 1980s one of my kidneys was surgically removed because of an obstruction. I’ve lived more than 30 years with only one kidney. Now my solitary kidney is failing, causing me to have stage 4 kidney disease. I don’t normally post about my health issues, but this disease severely restricts my day-to-day activities and my ability to do many of the things I love. This is the last stage before complete kidney failure and dialysis for the rest of my life. Because of certain restrictions, my doctor said I’m only eligible for a living kidney donation.

I AM SEARCHING FOR A LIVING KIDNEY DONOR.

As much as I like helping others, I hate asking others for help. I need your support and prayers. Any healthy individual can potentially donate – blood type is not a limitation because of the paired kidney exchange programs.

This is a very critical time in my life and I appreciate your support. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this, please feel free to contact me at 410-218-6538.
