Thomas Edward Grout, Age 51. Born March 14, 1963 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Died December 11, 2014 at Meritus Hospital, Hagerstown, Maryland of a brain hemorrhage.
Tom is survived by daughter Kayla Grout, of Baltimore, MD; sister Paige Grout Jensen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; half sister Stacy Jensen Bub of Monticello, Iowa; fiancé and partner of 7 years, Stephanie Diamond of Inwood, WV; and stepfather Neil Jensen of San Juan, Texas.
Tom loved the nursing profession and from 1982-1986 served in this capacity in the Navy. Later, he worked as a nurse at Virginia Beach General Hospital from 1991-1994, Washington County Hospital from 1994-2008, Maryland Correctional Institute as an Infection Control Nurse from 2009-2013, and most recently at Emeritus Assisted Living in Hagerstown, Maryland.
On the event of his death, some of his organs were donated and successfully transplanted. His remains were given to medical science, all just as he had wished.
Tom lived by the following words: Follow dreams, not rules. He was a great cook, loved to read Tom Clancy novels and garden, never missed March Madness and was happiest with his toes in the sand.
